Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the East and West Banks?

Karnak, Luxor Temple and the city centre are on the East Bank. The Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Theban desert hills are on the West Bank. A short Nile crossing gets you to the opposite bank, not to the tombs themselves.

How long is the drive to the Valley of the Kings?

Egypt’s tourism information gives roughly half an hour by vehicle. Your hotel, bridge route, traffic and additional pickups can extend that. Confirm the pickup time and exact starting point.

Does Luxor have beaches or a seaport?

Luxor is inland on the Nile. It has river jetties, not a sea beach or seaport. Hurghada is the better base for the Red Sea. Road transfers are advertised at roughly four to five hours depending on the service; this is not a quick beach detour.

Are admission tickets included in the tour price?

That depends on the selected option. Some starting prices cover only transport or guiding. Check the temples, tombs, guide language and possible supplements on the booking page.

Do balloon flights always operate?

No. Wind and weather can prevent departure. The catalogue’s total duration is not flight time because it may include transfers and preparation. Confirm age and participation requirements with the operator.

Can you visit Dendera and Abu Simbel from Luxor?

Dendera is roughly an hour and a half north of Luxor by road; Abydos is about three hours away. These are one-way estimates without sightseeing; hotel location, traffic and checkpoints may add time. Both are offered from Luxor. Dendera can be combined with Abydos; the combined trip fills a long day. Abu Simbel is much farther south, beyond Aswan. Aswan is the closer base. For departures from Luxor, check overnight stays, the return journey and included transfers carefully.
